I was capturing my calla lilies after a rain, when I noticed one with a very small fly resting on the petals. I love photographing flowers after a rain. The droplets glisten as they bead up. I don't know whether to lighten the flower a bit. When I did, it lost the detail of the droplets.

Lucy, I like the flower and droplets as they are. I also like the angle of this flower.

The glistening water drops are what caught my eye, Lucy. And it looks as though you have many tiny visitors. Only sorry you didn't catch the entire flower. I think it would have had even more impact.

Cheers,

Carol

Lucy:
Nice drops. I don't think you need to lighten this image but a little sharpening may help.

I really like the idea here with the waterdrops, but it appears to be a little soft, Lucy. Did you use a tripod for this image? This is just a personal preference, but I would clone out all of the dirt spots. Just a suggestion of course.

I do have the entire flower, But, I liked this cropping the best. With such a short stem showing, the full flower overwhelmed the photo.

Thanks for looking!

Lucy,

I might want a touch more dof but aside from that I like it very much as posted. No suggestions.

Lucy: We have a pretty strong crop of callas that ought to be blooming pretty soon judging by the health and vitality of the leaves so your shot has me anticipating. I find this amount of clipping of the petals awkward as it looks like an oversight instead of a deliberate choice. A more severe clip is obviously intentional. Instead of going wider I would have rotated my lens so the orientation of the flower is more corner to corner instead of close to horizontal across the frame. I think your exposure works, I like the drops and the DOF choice. The party crasher doesn't add much though and I do think I would make it go away. >=))>
