On The Hunt

I am new to NPN, and wanted to post to this gallery a couple of images I have taken while on tour with clients. I have an Eco-Tourism business in Whistler, BC. Although I spend more of my time doing landscape photography, I will grab some wildlife images when they appear

One of my tours visits a 550 acre Eco-reserve in the Squamish Valley, BC. This eagle image was taken recently in Paradise Valley on the reserve. I was lucky to get a good background in this image while this eagle was flying over the Cheakamus river looking for lunch! The Bald Eagles come to these winter nesting grounds from December to February for the salmon runs.

I included a larger version image for your viewing

Hi James, Welcome to NPN and Avian. It would be very helpful if you would include your shooting data. From looking at this image, I would surmise that you were shooting at a slow speed, but I'm only guessing. Hopefully, others with more experience will have additional comments.

I've been to Squamish Valley; that's a beautiful area.

Good luck with your avian photography.

Yes Carol, it was getting late in the day and this photo was taken "hand held". I was using a 70-200mm f2.8 lens, with a 1.4x tele-converter. Photo;1/200sec, f4.5, ISO400. I found using a tripod for this type of photo a challenge. I liked the contrast in this image  Avian is not my specialty, so and comments would be appreciated.
