The Pose

I shot this at the rookery at High Island Texas in April 2009. A number of the egrets were showing this posture. What does this signify?

Also I'm receiving comments on my posts that I over sharpen, but when I pull back it doesn't appear sharpened enough on my 27" iMac monitor. I use Nik plugin Sharpener Pro.

Please comment with your thoughts.

Great pose, Dottie. I suspect it's a mating display, but it could be territorial. Unfortunately, we don't have them up here. I looked closely at the larger image, and the sharpening looks reasonable to me. I don't see anything that sticks out as a sharpening artifact. Excellent job on the exposure. :toast:

It is a mating display, although I've never known whether male or female. Nice shot.

Nice Sharpness and detail. I could not see anything on the larger image that would bother me with sharpening.

Nice image. Love the pose of the bird. Nice and sharp-and not overly so, giving great detail in the wings. High Island is great.
