Gallery: FloraPosted December 11, 20101,702 views23 comments
Epson V500 (just kidding)

Sony A850
Leica 60 mm macro
11 image stack around f/5.6 or f8
RAW, Helicon Focus, NIK Suite, Lightroom 3, CS 5
MacBook Pro 17
Norhern light about mid morning

I plan to continue the scanner work but wanted this one as a stack to get everything sharp.

Merry Christmas to all of you.

Comments and suggestions welcome.

Wow  All your poinsettia shots have been great, but this one is 10 steps above. Incredible presentation.

This is the ideal poinsettia image for me. The colors, the focus, the bg is all exceptional! Nice to see some camera work! Merry Christmas!

WOW Pat is this scan ever good.......and different

Really like the POV and colours. The light really sets off the bloom nicely. I like the gradation of colour in the petals.
The stacking adds a certain "thickening" to the petals. Not sure why that is? But, it does give a unique and a very appealing interest to the image.

A striking portrait! I thought you had found a way to introduce more light into your scanner work at first. The clarity of this is the star of this show. Outstanding! :toast:

Beautifully captured Pat. It is on my list of things to do - learn how to do indoor photography and learn how to stack images. This inspires me.

Hi Pat :wavey: I'm losing track of all the Poinsettia shots you have posted  It's quiet obvious that you have not lost your touch with a camera  this is a superb stack that rivals your scanner work . Merry christmas to you and Terri.

I enjoy all your postings, but am especially that Christmas drew you temporarily away from the scanner and back to this Holiday Classic "Sampson Stack!"
The larger version is a christmas celebration for the eyes. Have a good Christmas yourself!

Merry Christmas to you Pat. I have a VERY tough time shooting Poinsettias. I really envy this shot - though I envy so many of your photos. Very, very nice.

Thanks for the kind words you all. I've been tied up at work for the last couple of days again but hope things have calmed down some now.

Krunal - I've played a little with glamor glow but generally don't like what it does to highlights in images. I think what your seeing here is darkening and then Orton Effect but with very little gaussian applied. I also used LR gradients and Viveza 2 for selective darkening and lightening.
