Awakening

A California poppy opening up in the mid-morning, each petal folding down at its own pace. This shot was taken about seven months ago and, though I've always liked it, I never got around to posting it for critique. So here goes nothing . . . your candid comments are greatly appreciated.

Canon 5D, Tamon 90mm for 1/640 at f/3.2 (ISO 200).

Beautiful rich color Phil. I think I'd like to see the Flower's center a little sharper but a very minor consideration. Striking image as posted.

Phil, I like the pinwheel effect of the petals and the colors.
IMO, the very shallow DOF is not working. I feel as though the eyes are jumping forward and backward. I think had you used a very small f/stop, it might have been easier to view.

Cheers,

Carol

Phil, a very dreamy image, especially now as I look out the window to snow. I'll just have to dream about these and here it is!! Great colour and light. Works for me.

A lovely array of colors for sure, Phil. I love the abstract quality in this floral scene. Your DOF choice works for me.

Beautiful colors, and you can almost feel the closest petal.

I really like this image, Phil! Perfect POV and DOF for me. I like how it is a suggestive rendition of a flower instead of documentary. Very beautiful art created here!

Hi Phil :wavey: I like how the stem anchors the composition. The flowing lines and intense color tones are very pleasing

Phil:
Dreamy, bright, warm and uplifting image characteristic of your poppy series posted earlier in summer. Love this.

Lovely soft color and feel to this. The center, if sharper, would really make this stand out.

Phil: Sorry to be so late to this party. I like the SOA effect. My only alternative would be a slight crop from top and left to eliminate the green there. Well seen and captured. >=))>
