Incredible birds when you see them this close. Dark background is a high cliff in the shadow with the sun just coming over the edge and lighting the bird a bit.

Nikon D3s with Nikon 200-400/4 iso 200 1/1000 sec. f/4 -4EV hand held and standing in a boat.

The pose is beautiful, the light is incredible and the droplets in backlight adds a lot . I must confess, however, that the completely black BG at a first visual impact is a little disconcerting .
In the end a remarkable image IMO .

Wonderful light, with a nice big trail of droplets. I don't mind so many dark tones punctuated by a few highlights, but the completely empty black space occupying the right half of the frame throws me off a bit.

What really makes this shot fantastic is the light on the beak, water droplets, and wing tips. You did an amazing job on the backlight and detail :toast: :toast:

Beautiful image, Edwin that doesn't really come through in the smaller version. The larger is wonderful. How big was that boat-this has the feel of being straight over the bird and shooting down from a distance. :toast:

Hi Edwin: This has a lot of drama to it. Great work hand holding from the boat. I think this image has incredible potential. I'd like to see a bit more light on the eagle. I'm guessing adding a small curves adjustment to target the eagle would add a lot of pop to this and still leave that great black background. The fish in the talons is fantastic, as are the trailing water drops. Both would become more evident with the curves adjustment.
