Just finding this bird in reeds can be quite a challenge. You have done a nice job of getting him into the open and imaging him. Nice and sharp. Seems to me that the yellow is a bit over saturated, although it may just be the intensity of the sun.

What a great headturn with the almost irritated expression. Quite lovely. I can look at it over and over again.

This is one of the nicer shots of this species that I have seen posted here! I have many shots of this species, but the bird sneaking through the reeds really trumps all of mine. This is just how you might see them!

Michael,
I like this image a lot. Very nice head turn, detail and natural colors. I like how the water reflection adds up to illuminate the subject. :toast:

Nice to get such a good look and I like how it splits the reeds... it could use a slight CCW rotation *look where the breast meets the water for a reference point) and has a green color cast (which others note as an oversaturation in yellows). Adjust the WB and you're home free.

Very nice Michael. I really like how the bittern blends in the the reed. Even the subtle reflection shows how much it retreats into its surroundings.
