Traces of Fall

Raccoon tracks and fallen cottonwood leaves in a shallow streambed under a bridge in Zion National Park. The irridescence is caused by swamp oil, a phenomenon caused by decaying plant material. This oil can be seen in swamps and shallow streambeds. This image was captured at dawn, so the morning light has done a great job of illuminating the irridescence.

You have a very nice combination of elements here and the result is a striking image, though to me the left half seems a bit soft. I briefly perused your website, by the way, and was very impressed!

The comp. is very good. You captured the scene well. I realize these are the colors as they exist, but the image looks unnatural because these are not the kind of colors you usually see in the natural world.

Nice find and great image, Barbara. Looks like the kids were playing in the mud again...

Very interesting shot. The colors are fantastic. My only suggestion might have been to create an image with only the tracks, as they seem to hold a lot of detail, color, and interest. A great find, as most of Zion's attractions are high above or down in the water.
