Brazos Bend State Park. Richmond TX. Yesterday morning.

D3 ISO 400. 300/2.8 with 2x tc. F6 1/3200 -0.7ev. About 30% of full frame. (I gotta get a longer lens!) Gitzo Tripod. Wimberly head. Morning light. No change to color saturation-as is.

This was a good shooting day. I got several series of the snowy fishing and moving from place to place.

Angela- I like the landing position and the sharpness of the image overall.I also like the setting and the composition, but I do see, and this could just be my monitor, a few hot spots: the forehead, near shoulder, and inside tail coverts- perhaps a tad less highlight detail may bring them down a bit, or shooting at -1.0EV might have helped here-just a thought.

Super detail, Angela. Love the incoming flight stance with the yellow feet.
Longer lens? Longer means more weight, although a 500 would be nice. Before buying this 300 2.8 I bought a 200-400 and returned it because of the front heaviness of the beast.

A very dynamic subject and fine image. I like this landing pose and the way it shows the wings and the legs so well.

Sweet shot Angela,I love the elegant light and detail. I was at Brazos Bend this afternoon and the action was good, but nowhere near the quality of light you had yesterday - excellent capture.

Great colour, pose and detail Angela - you've done a wonderful job on the whites in what appears to be quite bright light.

cheers

This is excellent Angela, even more so considering the large crop. Nice landing posture, framing and look at those distinctive feet.

Great landing pose Angela, love the super view of the 'golden slippers', eye and details under the wing. A very appealing image as posted.

Well this is just the cutest! Wish I had been there with you. Nice crisp entertaining action shot, and the exposure is spot on. Love those yellow-orange feet with matching upper beak and eyes.
