Very nice, Ian. Excellent detail and setting. On my monitor, it looks like you could brighten this a bit.

I agree it looks a little on the dark side, but I assume that's the result of the ambient light on a low light winter day. There's a bit of a sharpening halo around the head most noticeable on the smaller image.

Ian,
I love the snowy setting with the bits of grass peeking through and the fieldfare's pose. I think I would try to brighten this just a little but not much to keep the low light effect. I can see the halo that Rich D mentioned but that should be easy to resolve.
Looking at the snow made me shiver a bit, not sure why as we have mounds of it here too!

Ian, I like the snowy setting but agree about the darkness and halo. Masking the bird and then selectively sharpening it will typically prevent the halo.

A tad dark maybe, but a very pleasing image. Great pose, love that eye, snow on the beak, and fine detail.

Wonderful pose and setting, Ian. The snow on the beak makes for a nice touch.

Ian,
very nice image. I agree with others about lightning it a bit.
