Clouds Over Utah

It was a blustery day with rapidly changing conditions. I took this image with B&W in mind because of the dramatic tonal range presented and the interesting clouds. What do you think?
Thanks for looking,
Anne

Wow! You're right great tonal range - the La Sals look great in the BG! Great shot.

The clouds do add a lot of drama, though I think I would process some of the dark grays a little lighter to add to the textures of the cloud mass.

Anne,

You certainly witnessed and captured a dramatic scene and tonal range. Along the lines of Tony's comment, I think you have the range to actually increase the brightness in both the highlights and midtones and then maintain the dark areas - increasing contrast as a result.

I like the silhouetted framing at the bottom. A dynamic scene with some great processing potential (nothing wrong as is, but I think you could experiment.)

Thanks so much for the feedback! I'll work on the mid tones and see what I can bring out. I appreciate you all taking the time to comment!

I love the clouds, and the toning looks good to me! Needs a slight CW rotation i think. IM undecided about the silhouette--i like that one formation but the rest of the framing im not sure--but the black border isnt helping

I really like this, Anne. The pitch black silhouette is great, though a non-black border would help. There also appears to be a sudden dropoff in the darkness of the clouds all around the edges of the frame, giving the impression that you used the burn brush or a feathered layer or something along those lines. I'd try to fix that up, but otherwise I like the toning as it is.
