Folding Lava

I have plenty of Zion and Hawaii images coming your way, thank you for any C&C's!

Hawaii was all about one thing - Lava. Lava entering the sea, lava plumes, lava breakouts, lava patterns. I loved every second of it. I had the great pleasure of meeting and become friends with the best Hawaii volcano photographers in the world - Bruce Omori & Tom Kuali'i. http://www.extremeexposure.com/index.php.

They just opened a new gallery in Hilo and it is incredible. If you are on the Big Island you absolutely have to stop by. Bruce and Tom will be starting Tours soon, if you have any interest in photography on the Big Island please contact them about options.

I encouraged them to post on this forum and we should be seeing images from them shortly

This image was taken during the beginning of a new breakout. That breakout has spread tremendously and has already burned down a house and more roads. It's incredible how much that area changes day to day.

Canon 7D, Canon 70-200mm f/4L IS, ISO 400, f/8, 1/13 sec.

Very nice! The lines here are amazing. The contrasting red and black are rarely seen in nature, so this is a very bold and graphic image. I would suggest cropping a bit off the bottom though. The dark area at the bottom is a eye magnet, and keeps distracting me from viewing the top of the composition.

Justin,

Oh my, what a fantastic nature image AND nature story. Lava images have always fascinated me - probably because i've never been up close and personal. Although the colors don't say this, this kinda reminds me of how bread in kneaded at a bakery....

A little unsure of the darkness at the bottom, but that doesn't detract from the impact this has.
