Bryce Amphitheater

I had one shot at a sunrise during my recent trip to the Southwest at Bryce. I wish I had more time to scout compositions the night before, but my buddies were more interested in drinking beers. I tried to talk them into walking, talking and drinking like our high school days while I scoped out the rim the night before, but they had no interest!

While not very original, I thought the light was terrific and the sky managed to holdsome color for me.

Beautiful Lighting, I've never seen it presented like this, loving that curve.

Harry,

Quite difficult to come up with an original comp from here, but I think you did well considering the circumstances (beer buddies.)

I too like the curve here. It's as if this is a natural excavation. Natures way of exposing the gems of the earth.

The only nit I have is the brightness of the LLC. I would selective burn down that area as it really works hard at keeping my eye there. Great scenario for a TK burn/dodge layer.

Lon - I will try and tone that down a bit - the 3 little bushes look a bit too red. I have been meaning to try TK mask tutorial, but haven't made the time for it. A stack of files yet to go through - If the snow hold off in the East, I may actually get to it this year! Thanks for the obs. I have another shot that accentuates the curved rim, perhaps later in the week. I'll check that corner prior!

This turned out great, Harry. I really like the framing elements here. What a great view of Bryce. Nicely used grad. Didn't notice it 'til I saw it in your description.

It really is an amazing place, isn't it? I like the straightforwardness (real word?) of this image showing all the beauty this sunrise had to offer. I agree with the suggestion about the corner, but not a deal breaker. Well done!

Gorgeous shot, Harry! really a very nice wide view of this place. color is incredible, and I like the comp. If I ever go there, I'm looking for a shot of this spot too. I'll be sure to step a step or two to the right or left though

Beautiful shot and what a view! Great color too. I agree with Lon about the llc, but otherwise this is wonderful. Nice work, Harry.
