Fall Forster's Tern
by Harry Harris
Bolsa Chica was crazy with bird activity and I saw birds I have not seen before (remember I am new to this). I went nuts shooting and filled my cards in two hours. I went home downloaded my shots and headed back. I noticed a couple of my favorite targets, Forster Terns, flying about the bridge there. I captured this shot and I think I handled the whites better than I have before. Anyway, I like the pose.

Pose is really appealing , image is very sharp and you managed exposure perfectly. The head turn gives even more dynamysm .

I like the pose, spread tail and the position of the wings, the exposure looks good to me.
I do notice some speckling in the blue sky which can indicate a large crop, then I read what you said about the crop "Crop 70% of full frame". Is this 30% of the original image? Or 70% of the original frame?
I think your use of -2/3 EV comp helped a lot here. Nice angle of light. At first I thought more of a head turn would be nice, then I then thought I like it this way, which shows the tern just going about its business unconcerned about your presence. I'm still undecided on that.
