Starling

1DMk iv, 600mm f4, 1/1250s, f4.5, iso 400. Morning sunshine. Wild, not stuffed.

I wish it would snow more often! The intense blue background is shaded snow, reflecting the blue sky. The bird is lit by the reflection from the snow in the foreground. He's foraging for bait in the snow by the way. Blizzards here at present :jump: :jump: :jump:

Really nice comp Ian. Love the BG. Nice color in the bird too. Flying snow adds to shot.

Cool shot Ian. If you wish for more snow just come to Saskatchewan we have six months worth of it. I am posting a similar shot but with a female Hairy Woodpecker.

"Wild, not stuffed".

A great example of a common species being shown at its very best. :toast: :toast:

You can keep the blizzards, though...

Beautiful! The low angle and show is terrific, the bird is in top plumage, and the background is wonderful. Very nice!

Very nice picture of a subject as common as it is difficult to photograph ( at least where I live ) . The snow raised in search of food gives great dynamism . The subject is beautiful and its colors are in part similar to BG .

I find the winter plumage on this species to be fascinating, they look like they have jewels on the feathers. Love the colors in the background against the snow and bird. Techs look good as always.

Yes, I have heard from a friend in East Anglia that there is snow there, too! I like this one very much! Stuffed, indeed!

Great action with the flying snow Ian. Colors in both bird and background are nice too. Enjoy the snow!

Gorgeous starling, Ian. I keep failing to capture this plumage. Great job with the exposure and I like the action. :toast:

Beautiful colors. Looks like he is really enjoying the snow, looks a bit confused about the white stuff. Excellent. :toast:

Nice one Ian. Like the intense look of the bird and the detail in the larger image and, of course, your trademark low perspective

cheers
