Nice Catch

I've been working on this for awhile and hope it is nearing completion.
Some will not like the south end of the bear being out of frame and some will probably have issues with the high angle shooting from the top of the river bank, but it was basically a grab shot as I could hear the commotion as I approached and had to find a window to shoot through the foliage. I've killed the bright green oof leaves on the river bank using one of TK's painting techniques.
Thanks for looking.

Hope you enjoy Holidays!

It's a great behavioural shot, the colour of the fish is amazing
I wouldn't want to get any closer to the bear myself though
Well captured.

Good get. Not all shots are from ideal positions and it looks like you have made the best of this one.

Very nice considering the circumstances. Like the way the red in the salmon really stands out.

Hey Neil,

Between the bear and the two salmon on the right side of the frame, you're really working the "cut the subject with the frame" thing!

I like the triangular arrangement of the 3 bits of bright colour (AKA the salmon) and I think technically the image is pretty much spot-on. You know about the angle of shooting and "guillotine" issues anyway...so not worth discussing those - I think you HAVE made the most of this, which is a valuable skill in itself. Sometimes things happen so fast in the field that the more realistic goal IS squeezing the most out of what you're presented with (rather than photographic "perfection" - whatever that is!). So well done!

Cheers...thanks for sharing this...

This is kind of an unusual perspective from my experience, and I really enjoy it. The light is absolutely fantastic, and the action is also great. Maybe my favorite bear photo of the year.

Looks like another great adventure Neil! I like the detail in the fur of the bear. You can practically see each hair on its back. I too like the contrasting red of the salmon!
