I was set-up to catch/follow this Northern Mockingbird in flight off the branch here. What I got was the bird making a quick flit of its tail..
F/6.3, 1/3200th, IS0 800, Canon 1D M3, 300mm f/2.8 + Kenko 2x ext and natural light. Clear & sunny.

Howard, I like the way the bird is showing off the white tail feathers. The background is clean and the sharpness looks good. I do wish for a better head turn, but like this as is.

Howard, I have been trying to expand my captures to include behavior. Your shot and description is great. I think the comp is spot on.

Cool head turn here Howard. Love the BG. Looks like you had enough SS to get a bit more DOF on the bird, but I do not know what that would have done to the BG.

Love that flicked tail and I think you got a nice headturn. The eye stands out nicely in the larger version.

Howard, I like the head turn - that's what makes this work for me. Interesting pose and curved perch and I really like the background.

I like the fanned tail Howard, the curve of the branch, great background colors and the head turn is very interesting.
