Dahlia and Dew

Haven't been as active lately as I'd like, life's been busy and I've been having computer issues. The ancient motherboard's preventing anymore upgrades so I guess it's time to replace the 7 yr old dinosaur.

This is very similar to an earlier image except for the dew and the bloom is facing the other direction. At first I didn't think it was post worthy because the dew drops aren't all that special as far as dew drops go and the stem is somewhat unappealing. I thought about cloning it out but I find it difficult removing large objects next to a hard edge effectively. Any tips?
All comments welcome, thanks for looking.

Bruce: Wonderful color palette and excellent DOF management. The stem works OK for me and I don't see any compelling need to make it go away. Good luck on the computer upgrade. I'm still running a 9 year old Dell at home but I do have a fairly new laptop. Top notch shot here. >=))>

Bruce:
The colors are great here. Don't mind the stem. The bg is fine but looks a bit grainy. Love the POV. A minor nit the the damage tip of the lowest petal.

Looks good to me. The stem does not bother me.

Bruce, one thought is to make a mask out of the flower to protect it, and the second thought is to create a brush out of a section of your background and use it to paint over the stem. It's possible to control the amount of texture that the brush applies.

Have fun ;^)

Rich intense color and a fine composition Bruce. Also good bg separation. I don't have a problem with the stem but what I generally do is use a feathered brush that's larger than the stem and grab some other part of the canvas that seems to work as the clone source, then go to a smaller brush hard or soft - which ever works better and play with anything that looks odd, then a smaller brush ... until I finally get to a point where I'm satisfied. I may go through the process a couple of times trying to get something I can live with.

Hi Bruce! This is a very nice shot. I don't find the stem distracting at all and it is muted enough to basically merge with the background. I don't think the dew drops detract either and it doesn't appear you are trying to make them a focal point so IMHO they work well. The colors and lighting also work well.

This must have been taken before yesterday's storm, or at least not outside. Otherwise it would be covered with snow and the flower would be wilted with the sudden cold. It was nasty getting home last night.

A strong flower in a strong photo. I also like the stark contrast of the two far colors. A very impressive image, Bruce.
Take care.
