Politician Tree

The name?

Old, decayed, but still standing... you figure it out......

I could have posted a more "colorful" photo but this old tree trunk really caught my fancy. When I say that realize I did not have my camera. I walked to my car and retrieved my camera and walked back--round trip most of 3/4 mile.

Most trunks fall to the ground and decay there. This one remains upright perhaps as an example to those surrounding it that it once was as they are now and they will eventually be as it is--but perhaps not standing.

I thought about cloning the few remaining leaves out of the photo but then thought the leaves fit the them of is-now and will-be.

Flint Hills region of NE Kansas. Nikon D700, Nikkor 14-24 F/2.8@18mm, f/22, 1/25s, matrix, ISO 200.
