Hairy Woodpecker

Hairy Woodpecker (Dendrocopus villosus)
This Hairy Woodpecker was about all I could shoot yesterday. Pretty common bird around here these days.
Have a look at the detail in the large version. Also, the background of trees and branches appears a bit haunting.
All comments very welcome.
1D Mark IV, 400 mm f/5.6: ISO 800, 1/1000 s, f/5.6, 3.0 MP after cropping (I seem to be becoming addicted to large crops), usual NR, exposure adjustment, sharpening; two small branches removed from upper RHS.

5 commentsWhites and blacks both good. BG grew on me pretty fast. Spotlight look is very appealing.

I really like the classic pose and the catch light. The detail is super. Well done.
