A Long Way From Home

The light wasn't really happening this day so I decided to use the wave action to make a shot. Here in Connecticut we have beautiful rocks like this one, which was probably dumped here by a glacier. It's a long way to it's possible home in Maine, where you find these orange rocks in abundance in places like Acadia. I did move this rock a few feet closer to where the waves were breaking. My knees won't be able to handle photography like this too much longer!

This works great for me - love the black rocks interspersed with the one orange rock. My only nit is the slight barrel distortion on the horizon.

Cool shot Mark. I like the single orange rock surrounded by the black ones. I might consider a square crop to exclude the sky, since it seems like all of the interesting elements are towards the bottom/middle of the frame.

Beautiful soft color contrast, Mark. I like this even better cropped to just above the top rocks.

I really like the contrasts here Mark. I think by cropping the sky, it becomes a stronger image IMO. The water motion, black rocks, and lone orange rock all combine to make a beautiful image.

Much stronger with the sky cropped out IMO. Lovely work though with the composition and shutter speed.

Interesting eye for composing with available elements and light. The overall simplicity of this is appealing.

It's nice to see the cooler tones in a shot like this. I think I might have wanted to see the red rock not quite so centered, but this works very well, too. I also like the touch of warmer tones on the horizon. What makes the image for me, though, are all the darker stones. They look like black jewels.
