Dream World

The photo was taken around 7.30pm - the period that the sky was getting dark quickly and also started to rain. With 3.5 minutes exposure while using my cap to protect the lens, I was able to capture this image which seemed to present a dream world.

Your opinions about this image will be very helpful.

I like the concept very much. The blue cast is appropriate, and the ground fog is wonderful. I am seeing a brown streak about 2/3ds of the way up the rock, which looks a little weird.

Hi Phil, thanks for your comment. The brown color of the layer on the rock was a natural appearance of that giant rock. Yes, it was a bit strange, but that was it.

Yan,

I really, really like the concept and execution here. You definitely have created a dreamy look and for me, the rock seems to rise out of the mist like there should be some sort of temple up top.

Of course I wasn't there, so these comments may be pointless, but I'm wishing for a couple of things. One I wish the rock temple was centered left-right, but that's minor. also, I'm wishing for more misty rocks at the bottom, but there certainly may have been something preventing the comp I'm looking for.

Lastly, looks to me like civilization on the left horizon? I can't make anything out really, so I'll leave this here. If anything you might clone out what looks like some faint specks of light.

Anyway, still a great image that you handled quite well given the conditions and what you were trying to accomplish. good job.

Very cool image with the smoky water. There does seem to be a bit of a halo around the rime of the rock outcrop.

Very otherworldly with the blue hour colours and streaks of cloud radiating from the pyramid a most effective touch.

I like the radiance of light around the rock Yan. Beautifully blue too!

Very nice effect! The blues, and the misty look really work well. I might be inclined to let the big rock go a bit darker, and maybe even apply a curves adjustment to darken the whole thing just a bit.

Turned out great. I like the overall blueness as it creates a very artistic feel to the image.

Dear folks,

Thanks very much for your informative inputs and encouragement.

Lon: I see your points. Yes, the far behind of the left side showed residential buildings. I may consider to clone that out.

Great shot Yan. I like the brighter 'ring' of water motion around the base of the rock, which seems to radiate from the rock and emphasize the perception of the rock rising from the sea. A very effective and evocative image. Nice one!

Yan, you certainly conveyed what you felt at the time with this dreamy rendition. I think I would like to see more foreground rocks here.
