1D Mk IV, 600mm x1.4, 1/100s, f5.6, iso 800.

Apologies for lack of contribution recently - I've been tied up with charity exhibitions and I really have nothing new. However, I've just set up a new pond and hide in my garden, which is still experimental. Inevitably, this chap was keen to find out what was going on!

Amazing... your images have been missed. Love the shallow DOF that huge lens gives you and that subtle reflection

Such smooth and clean textures, both in the foreground and background. Nice one, Ian.

Very nice, as expected from you. An image reduced to a few essential elements.

This looks a little different to your other pool Ian but it's more convenient being in your backyard. I guess you wont be getting coots and mallards on here so it will be interesting what your future posts are from this pond. From your techs it looks as though the light wasn't very good but the bird's face is really sharp and I like the blurred reflection. The lack of noise at this iso shows the benefit of the MkIV at low light levels. Graham

Love the extreme low perspective Ian. Great comp with nice details. Is the waterline tilted just a bit to the left?

Thanks all!

Charlie
I have a small pond also and am wondering how you have your edge setup

Presently, the back edge is a straight drop. In this image, you are seeing the reflection of the sky in the OOF pond liner. My aim is to keep the water level up so that it just trickles over the edge, thus obscuring the liner. The next objective is to get the birds to perch on the edge, showing their feet - that may take a lot of time and luck!
