I have been photographing Death Valley National Park for the past 4 days, and today was the only day that clouds were present for a sunset shot.

I like the comp with the leading element in the foreground, but the brightness and contrast could maybe be better optimized.

The comp is quite good, but I agree with Tony. This could really shine with some contrast work.

I like the color of this sunset, there's a peacefulness to the image. I think it could use some more sharpening in this web version, and a bump in brightness, but other than that it feels quite balanced and I really like the way the FG points leads the eye towards the horizon. The image is pretty subtle and I'm not sure I would increase the contrast too much, since that might change the mood. I'm surprised you have gotten more comments on this, based on the composition alone.
