Magnolia in Soft Focus

Liked the mood that the vignette gave this magnolia flower which was shot last spring using Canon 40D and 100-400 IS lens. If the moderators think it should be placed in photo art because of the vignette, please feel free to move it.

Comments always welcomed.

Patricia:
This is really gorgeous. The colorful center is surrounded by pastel white and the vignette works wonders here. :toast: I find magnolia challenging as the petals seem unruly and radiates in every direction.

W  W Pat, this is first clas in every way. The use of the white vignette provides perfect focus, simplification and framing to the image. I really like vibrancy of the stamens and how the is pink glow rhyming in the petals to the stamens. The delicate frame to the overall image is an excellent choice. :toast:

Your ability to make outstanding flower pictures with the 100-400 lS lens is amazing.

An exceptional image for my tastes Pat. I think I prefer this to Cunningham's iconic image and this would be the first time I've ever thought that. I do think you're at a disadvantage to her though, choosing to work in color. Certainly no concern on my part that you've used a vignette. As far as I know photographers have been using them at least since the Civil War. You can probably tell I like this image.

The POF works very well for me Patricia. Very nice tones - the toning makes the shot feel very elegant.

A stunning image, Patricia - right up there with your best, I feel, for its clarity, composition and general presentation. And a beautiful subject too. Many congrats on the EP !!

Pat: You've probably figured out that I like this a lot. I struggle with magnolias and you just seem to capture them with ease. Superior image superbly crafted. >=))>
