Tender Moment

Another image from my encounter with a young piebald, part-albino deer last weekend. There were four PA whitetails here at the time, yet the mother, and what I assume is her oddly colored offspring, seemed to be attached. While the other two ran around, these two stayed close together while I was there.

As I tried making adjustments to increase the shutter with my friend's Rebel XTi I was using, I hoped for some kind of interesting pose. For a brief second, the young piebald turned it's snout up to the mother and genuinely appeared to plant a kiss, or at least try to rub noses with her.

Just a neat little scene. Basically same settings and soft result as before--ISO-400, 1/60th in low light HH, f-6.3 and 300mm. Thank you for any C&C as always.

Wow that is a different colored deer. Great shot and you can feel the closeness they have for each other.

Such an odd looking creature. Like a snowshooe rabbit halfway between seasons. Its great that you could record it.This is a picture you will show for years.

Thank you Ron and Richard. Yes, it was great to get this apparent show of emotion especially. Wish it was under better light and I had a more familiar camera with me, but I'll take it for now.

Hi Bill,

Boy...that deer is just so peculiar looking...almost like some exotic species. Another good documentary shot and for that reason alone it's definitely a keeper!

Cheers...thanks for sharing this...

I like the interaction between the doe and fawn. the tow deer are soft as you have already noted.
