I took this image of friend and fellow photographer Mike Helton as he photographed the Greenbrier River in Great Smoky Mtns Ntl Park. I processed this with the Orton technique. Some may say it's overdone but I was having a little fun pushing the limits of the image. Mike, if you see this it's time to join the NPN community and learn from the great critiques provided by it's members.

Wonderful shot, Kirk. The atmosphere is superb, also thanks to the perfectly applied Orton effect.

Congrats

Kirk, the Orton technique works very well here. Your placement of the photographer in the image is perfect.

It's a great shot and the Orton works well. The comp is perfect. I wish the photog was a bit brighter though. His packpack especially blends in.

Orton aside (i just dont see the reasoning behind softening rocks and long water exposures that are already soft...) I find the bright highlite on the lhs a bit overpowering here. But i really like the right 2/3, so personally i would crop square. Nice entry! :wavey:
