A female wheatear that posed for me on this perch, it may be to heavy for some but I like it for the detail and they naturally perch on them you can t tempt these with seed.It had just started to rain.

Canon 1DMK4, Canon 500f4L + 1.4 convertor, ISO 400 f6.3, 1/320

Karen,

I like the streaks from the rain, the pose of the bird, the ruffled feathers and the nice testures and detail in the perch. I also like the head angle and light in the eye. Comp works for me

Nice composition and always an interesting species. Please provide location information as we birders always are interested in where you found this (wheatear is a mega rarity anywhere in the Lower 48).

Real nice light on the bird Karen and the perch works just fine for me. The slanting rain is great and I like the background. I'd love to see your images at 1200 pixels.

Awesome perch - love the snowfall (rain?) and the windblown feathers. Really wish I had a perch like that around me!

Lovely. And lots of interesting texture here. Head turn is right on and those rain drops add more interest to the image.

A lovely capture Karen
It would still be a great shot without the raindrops but with them it's even better.
Well done.

Everything really comes together in this shot - rain, pose, perch, colors and lifted feathers.
Great shot - really tells a story.

Windswept and rain. Makes for great action shot with a still bird. Perch is good for me, although cropping up some from the bottom might make it feel less bottom heavy.
