My turn to contribute to the "looking up into the trees" shot  One of my many oaks at home...I liked the way the branches meandered through the image. I kept light because I liked the "ambiance" the light created.

d80, f8, a bit of orton

The pattern of tree limbs is interesting, Beth. I especially like the one on the left. I'm not sure about the orton effect; I think that's a personal matter to decide.

Beth: I like this as presented and think the Orton is a net plus. I like the branches too. Well extracted and captured. >=))>

They really do look like meanders Beth. I wonder if the forces and mathematics that create them in rivers and streams are the same in oak trees? I shoot trees all the time and rarely get anything I like. For my tastes this is very beautiful. The thumbnail doesn't begin to do it justice. Superb composition, subdued sympathetic light and a mood that appeals to me. I think your use of a a subtle Orton treatment here was inspired. Hope you can tell I like this one.

I too like the way the main limbs twist in and out of the glorious colors of foliage.... very well done!

I like the weaving of the branches in and out of the leaves. Soft color, soft focus, and easy on the eyes :toast:

A very cohesive comp and I really like the subdued color in this one. Excellent take on this type of shot.

Excellent image with fabulous patterns. It must be a quite old oak tree. Well done Beth.

Beth, you must have found a hole in the middle of the oak where the branches are free of leaves. They become lines and curves of a very nice design. I like very much this very warm photo.
Take care.
