Looks like a magnificent bird. I like the yellow legs and talons showing. Unfortunate that the perch is so busy. Might improve things a bit by cropping above the lower group of limbs.

Very interesting habitat shot, Luke. I like how the bird blends so well into that tree. Also, the thin spidery off-shoot branches make the perch unusual. The head turn is attractive with the bird looking back at us and the level of detail in the bird is very good considering that it is quite small in the frame.

I agree with Angela's suggestion for a different comp here Luke. Head turn is nice.

The crop idea is a good one, but nice detail and head turn.

Nice find Luke. Good detail and catchlight -and I like the perch. I do think the image would benefit from Angela's suggestion though.

Nice head turn, catch light and light on the merlin Luke. I also like Angela's cropping suggestion but perhaps for a different reason. For me, if there's anything "busy" here it's the curly branches up above but actually I think they're a big part of the appeal of this image. It's just that for me the short stumpy branches at bottom don't add anything and perhaps detract a little.
