Woodlawn Park. San Antonio, TX

D3 ISO 250 f7.1 1/1000. -0.3ev. Laying flat with camera resting on pier. Just at sunrise. Natural light. Almost full frame with trimming for comp.

This small lake near downtown San Antonio had several species of ducks and geese, egrets and cormorants. They are there throughout the year. Although the best access is on the west side of the lake, there is a small pier, very low to the water line and you can use to shoot. At the end of it you can shoot back toward shore and catch everyone "sunny side up". By laying flat I was able to get some nice low shots.

The detail in the black bill area is detailed where it needs to be. And the exposure on the rest is sweet. Good one!

You obtained a great viewing angle on this goose, Angela. Combined with the lighting, detail and ideal level of exposure, this image is beautifully captured. :toast: :toast:

Angela,

The light is beautiful and accentuates the bowns of the goose well and lights up the amber colored eye very nicely. Lovely pose, details and sharpness, I also like your low angle here.

My sister used to have these exotic geese running loose in her yard, they made excellent watch dogs by barking (honking) whenever a vehicle pulled into her long driveway.

The early "bird" get's the worm, or rather...the early "bird" gets a beautiful image with the first light of morning. I like the way the goose is separated from the darker BG with the lovely light. The composition compliments the image and the catch-light in the eye is the icing on the cake. Great job Angela!

Did you use you 300 and a tc?
