Phalaenopsis

This lovely little moth orchid followed me home from the floral department at the grocery store. Can I keep it?

I shot this against a south facing window to provide back lighting. I used +2 exposure compensation for a high key presentation and to blow out the background. I didn't want to pick up any tonality or texture from the thin curtains.

Hard to find such a cooperative alignment of flowers on some orchids, but this worked out nicely, and I like the diagonal flow of the flowers. The high key on white flowers works quite well here. I would like to see this in a larger version :toast:

Marc, a very tasteful image, full of grace and elegance. The warm yellow in the high key is always splendid. I love it!
Take care.

Definately a keeper! I gasped when I opened this! So beautifully done with a simple elegance. I really like your choice to go high key on this one.
I love it when those flowers follow me home!

Mark, this is drop dead gorgeous! I love the high key treatment. I enjoy viewing the subtle shadows and light and the bit of color shines beautifully throughout. A very well executed shot. :toast:

Beautiful Mark. I've found orchids to be difficult subjects, but you knocked this one out of the park. Great composition and the high key approach gives it a softness that's very appealing. Well done. :toast:

And no you can't keep it, because I want it.

Like the choice of hi-key, which fit the subject very well. Orchid in eastern culture considered as exotic and pure. I also like the composition with three flowers to leading me around the frame and finally settling on the un-budded bulb at lower right corner.

Absolutely gorgeous high key of the orchids, Mark. Sure wish the left side wasn't clipped… I hasten to add that this is one of the best shots of an orchid, and I'd die to get one anywhere near close to this!
