Bison cow @ Tetons

Another bison but this time with the Grand in the bg. Due to the range of the scene - the shadows got a bit blocky (which are salvageable) and the whites are a bit blown out. So I used a shallow depth of field to keep the bg (albeit tall) less prominent. How would you work this scene?

I like this as is, Will. The OOF mountain adds to the image - I think if it were more in-focus my eye would be drawn from the bison. This works!!

Will,

Pretty cool shot! I like this one better than the closeup. Good placement of the bison, works well. I wonder if a bison can appreciate the natural beauty of this land as much as we can.

To my eye this is great composition. The OOF mountain is just right. If you are really looking for nits, I might add a little contrast to the mountain. However this is a really small nit. The image is wonderful, showing the environment of the bison. To me this is more sometimes interesting than the tight shots.

Will,

I don't know what you could have done differently with this difficult exposure. I too prefer this one over the first. Very nice composition.

Best regards,

Yes, I like the way the eye is drawn from the bison to the Mtn. and back again. Great job Will. Nice exposure.

Excellent composition, Will. I think you did the best thing on the DOF. As Ed said, if you're really, really looking for nits, you could do just a but more contrast on the mountain, but not much as it would really pull the attention from the bison. Also, something that's pretty nitpicky is the bush right behind the cow; I did get distract by it. But then I'm easily distracted some days.
