Ruddy Duck

From Kamloops area in June. I'd been looking for this courtship behaviour and was delighted to see it fairly close-up. Another success for the Kwik Camo, without which this would not have been possible.

1D MkIV, 500mm + 1.4X, 1/640 @ f8, ISO800, Tripod, morning overcast skies.

Thanks for looking; your comments always appreciated.

Beautiful image KC, love that blue beak and the water bubbles around the breast. No nits from me.

This looks nice KC. Yes, ruddies have a very unique show they put on for the females. Great low angle and the colors look nice. Would like to see a larger version to get a real feel for sharpness and detail.

Ridiculous colors... the turned up tail and a little overcast skies to help you on the exposure just sweet.

This is just great Kwan. Why'd you wait so long to post it? - probably golfing too much... You caught an excellent pose to demonstrate the behavior that I've seen several times from a distance. I ache to get something like this - so close and so low.

Well done KC. Blowing bubbles and the bright blue bill you know it has to be breeding season when you captured this.
