Splendid Fairywren

This is the female - the males were more flighty than I expected. The yellow background is part of a grove of flowering spiny wattle. This bird is in the upper twigs of a dead one.

ISO 400 f8 1/1000 exp comp -1/3

cheers

Rob, I like the messed up feather look of this bird. BG is really nice. Nice overall comp as usual. DOF, sharpness, and detail are super as usual. Another one for the site.

I am not sure if I would want to land on a spiny wattle but what a great background to showcase the bird, good feather detail and eye contact, well done.

Another fine image - nothing to suggest to improve on this as presented.

Very much like our Verdin here in the desert. Is that blue along the tail?

The bg works well to highlight this little guy. Great work, Rob.

Good looking bird. Nice and sharp. I like the uncluttered background and simplicity. Was fill flash used?

Thanks for the comments.
G'day Rich - yes there is blue in the tail but nowhere near as much as the male which is about the bluest bird around (see my avatar)
Hi Angela - no flash, don't even own one

cheers

Another beauty, Rob. Excellent pose. The yellow bg feels a bit odd at first, but I think it works. :toast:
