Elowah Fall
by John Williams
We have such an amazing amount of streams and waterfalls here in the Pacific Northwest. It’s quite a paradigm shift for this desert rat. One of my goals has been to try and photograph more of them, so I’ve been visiting some of the local icons this past year. I’ve found them to be a bit of a learning curve, and suspect I have a ways to go in that process.
I photographed Elowah Falls the past two Saturdays. On the first visit, the water flow was tiny. We had good rain during the week, so I went back and found the flow had increased dramatically. This is from the second visit.
This is a blended photo. I’m posting at work and don’t have the shooting info, but would be happy to add it if there is interest.

I'll be in the Gorge for a week in either May or June next year. Can't wait!
I just returned from the Gorge and shot Elowah as well. My comp is vert similar to yours except there was quite a bit more water. The color was about the same, still not a whole lot of fallen leaves on the right bank. Looking forward to more Gorge images from you!

I can't have missed you by much. I was there Saturday too - what a big difference after a little rain.
Chris, definitely plan on a good bit of time here. There are a _lot_ of comps to wander through, one of my favorite falls for sure.
Bret, glad to hear you're headed our way! Give a shout if you have questions or want an inept, inexperienced guide for a day or two.
Daniel, sorry I missed you! I ran into two photographers there new to me, Ian and Cliff, but would love to have met you too.
