Sometimes I wonder if we don't need to listen to people more closely. I had asked the innkeeper at the motel I was staying at if he knew of any place close by with good scenery. He suggested this place. It was not a place I had in mind or was familiar with. But, I took his suggestion, and this was the result. I will definitely listen more closely when locals suggest a place to shoot.

Comments and critiques always welcome, and thanks for the comments.

Morris

The colors are great. At first it almost looked over saturated, but the more I look at it the better it looks.

I dream of a sky like that! Just gorgeous situation to be in, and you owe that guy big! One day I will get my popcorn clouds but until then, I will have to live vicariously through those that already have them.

Gorgeous sky. But I thought that the sky and the land are almost two different pictures - the color schemes are so different. But probably that's the way it was...

This is awesome indeed. The shapes and colors in the sky make this! As for local advice is concerned; firstly, without the clouds this would not be photogenic. Secondly, my experience is that photographers often look at locations and light completely different that non-photographers (locals or not). In conclusion: local people that are also photographers I would listen to seriously  .

Excellent choice to make this all about the sky and minimize the landscape. The landscape has just enough interest and color to anchor this beautiful sky. Well done!

The clouds are lovely, and they really make this image work. I think I would lower the saturation a bit, though. There's so much color in the sky and the hillside, I think this would actually be stronger if it was a bit less "in your face", if that makes sense.
