This female cardinal was photographed at bird sanctuary in Salineno Texas in March 2010. Photo taken during early morning with soft natural light. I liked to pose and bg available.

Canon 7D 100-400 mm lens AV f5.6 1/160 ISO 200 with tripod.

Sweet shot Carlos!
I love the pose. Great use of the DOF.

Great pose!
Nice colrs and perch.
A bit more DOF would have brought the tail into better focus, and leaving more room in front would place trhe bird in a better offf-center position.
I'm afraid it's pretty soft too - likely a large crop.
Nice catch, though!

Very good clean view of the back and profile of the head. The head and tail look slightly soft, such a beautiful image in other respects deserves a bit more selective sharpening.

This is really nice! Composition, focus, exposure, are exquisite. And you have captured that all-important catch light in the eye. Great job :toast:

Carlos,

Love the pose with the look back over the shoulder. I also like the setting and the light in the cardinal's eyes. There is some softness of the face and tail which I think could have been improved by using a higher ISO to gain shutter speed and then using more DOF to get the head as in focus as the shoulder of the bird.
