Aspen Curves

After a brief rainfall, I started out to shoot the colorful leaves that had fallen from the white oak on the hill in front of my house, when the more subtle form and color of this aspen leaf caught my eye. Interesting how the raindrops cling to the underside of leaves, but pool and run off the shiny upper surfaces.

Canon 50D
Sigma 150mm. Macro
1/6 sec. @ f/16; ISO 100
Tripod; Mirror up w/ 2-sec. timer
Nine-images focus-stacked in CS5 (worked well for a change)

I kept looking at this wondering about the DOF then saw that it was stacked. It is an amazing image, Wayne.

Lovely and subtle, Wayne. I like that one leaf that has decayed enough to show the network of veins.

Stack looks good.

Love the comp, the color palette, the detail and the textures. Superbly done.

Wayne, I have tried a few stacks using PS-CS5 and they all turned out great. Your frame here is nice with different shapes, good tonalities and the splatter of water drops. Won't change a thing

Very nice subtle colors and comp. The drops of water really add to the image.

I really like your POV....I'm so used to seeing tight shots like this shot from directly above the subject (which I tend to do all the time  )....a major advantage of stacking techniques (unless you have a T/S lens, of course). Nice work.

Whoa! Wayne, this is fabulous. The stacking works so well here to show the texture and detailed patterns from front to back. Love the color palette too. :toast:

Wayne,

This is really beautiful. I LOVE the color palette. :toast:

How does one do a focus stack in CS5? I have never done one and am not sure how to go about it.
