Dancing Stripes
by Butch Lama
These are the same cubs as an earlier posting -- taken April 2010 in Bandhavgarh National Park, India. For a description of the sighting, open the image called "Play Fighting" in my gallery.
Since I leave for India tomorrow and will be away for several weeks, I wanted to post another image from this sighting, something seldom seen and rarely photographed. It started with a bit of luck, being in the right place at the right time, but as the cubs began to play, I quickly re-positioned the jeep for all (clients and me) to capture the action. It was an incredible three minutes.
D300, 200-400VR, hand held, ISO 400, f5.6, 1/350
Comments and suggestions are appreciated.
I'll contribute and post as often as I can, when and where we have internet access.

Well done - nice bit of action that's been very well captured! I agree with Vincent that it's a shame they were "doing it" in the shade, but you definitely handled that situation well. Also agree with the comment that parts of the image - in particular the whiskers of the cat on the left and portions of the wet fur - appear over-sharpened (at least on my monitor). But this is quite minor, easily corrected, and hardly takes away from this unique image (and experience!).
Cheers...thanks for sharing this...

The catchlight really stands out and I like the colour of the water.
