Washington Color

I interrupt my regular scheduled upload of large quantities of New England fall color images to present a ray of hope from the Pacific Northwest. As we all wait for fall to arrive (if it even does) in the Columbia River Gorge and elsewhere in the usual PNW spots, I found this grove of trees in the Wenatchee State Forest and couldn't believe I was in Washington State. Too cool!

Canon 7D
Canon 70-200mm f/4L IS
ISO 100, f/16, 0.8 sec.

Of course compression is a killer, view larger image for less compression.

A very elegant composition with beautiful, natural looking colours. A treat for the eye.
I would just correct the very light perspective distortion and call it perfect.

Wow, great shot. Love the simple repetition of the trees and the variety color.

I checked the large version - what a difference. The colours and luminosity make the image come to life! I really like the subject matter and how you arranged it. Very nice work Justin!

Lovely, Justin! It has enchanted feeling to it. Who needs the NE color with this hanging around?

Larger version looks really good. Your initial image is definitely a victim of compression. Excellent work and good hunting. The color range is exquisite and the comp is well chosen. Good work!

Looks better than the color here in the East. I think it's been too dry this summer for a great display. Lovely image!

Love the contrast of the white trunks and foreground reds Justin! Absolutely beautiful!

....and hey there is nothing wrong with NE fall colors...... or Atlantic Canada either..... or any where for that matter...... the reds, oranges, yellows, and greens. It is all wonderful. My favorite time of year!

One of your best Justin! Amazing color considering what a lot of the area is seeing, and you put the elements together perfectly. The detail in the larger version is very nice.

Too cool is right. Wenatchee NF has wonderful Fall color, and this is a great photo of it– comp and light and color all just wonderful. I'm glad to see it; this year is proving to be a little difficult in finding color. Ah, patience...

Man, you're killin' it with these last few. This one is amazing as well. The stark white trunks with the bit of black really contrast well with the reds, and other colors. Really nice arrangement too!
