These flowers are desert wildflowers, specifically Desert Marigolds. Among other names, they are known as Mary's Gold; hence the name for this B&W composition.
As I recall the flowers were approximately 5/8" in diameter.
And this image as well as the color version is a composite of many images with different focal points. I don't exactly recommend this procedure

since the degree of captured light bounces all over the place.
The images were all take at f/22, ISO 100, for 3 s. The lens was the 70-200mm lens coupled with the Canon 500D diopter.
I've taken the liberty of showing this image off with the equivalent of a
mat and
frame. I hope they don't detract from the image.
I'm sure you realize my favorite is the B&W version and I'm equally sure some of you will prefer the color version
Thanks for looking and leaving your comments and suggestions.

I love the Black and Silver one as it shows up the texture and tone very clearly. I wish there were only the two blooms in the foreground. The partially obscured bloom in the bg is distracting especially in the B&S version.

I tend to agree with Gary re: the partially obscured one in the back.
I like both the versions equally. Only other observation I have is the usage of F/22 - not sure it was necessary considering you were stacking anyways. F/22 is clearly in the diffraction range for most lenses.
maybe u sud try & clone the 3rd bloom out & jus a tad bit of crop from the top & left side to see how it goes.
