Killarney Park, Ontario

Here is a shot fresh off the press from a trip to Killarney Provincial Park in Northern Ontario. I had some polarizer issues (dark spot in sky) so had to blend two exposures to fix up the sky. I have presented this slightly warmer than I remember the scene being, I'm curious what everyone thinks of the colour here. Thanks for your comments!

5d II
17-40
1 stop hard grad + 2 stop soft
polarizer turned two different ways to blend for dark spot in sky

Looks good to me Wayne. Love the soft light. It may be my eyes and my work monitor but it looks like there is a slight halo around the top left side of the island (above the trees), but everything else really looks great. Wish I was up there instead of the sandy shores of southern Huron

Hey Jeremy,
I see the area you are talking about. I'm pretty sure it is just those little clouds breaking up the gradation which makes it look strange. I will check it out and see if there is anything I can do to trick the eye in that area.

I had a great time up North... so many great photos to be had in that area!

Sweet comp and some awesome light producing a great north country image. I can almost here the loons calling in the distance. I like the white balance, definite not too warm.

Love this! I like the colors alot, Wayne. Nice work with the comp too. I also think the longer exposure worked nice with the water for this image. Well done.

Hey Wayne,

I really like this and the location is gorgeous. I just love the northwoods' lakes and forests. The warm looks good to me. I know it could be hard finding fg elements but the rock setup you choose works really well.

Great job

What a beautiful scene, I love the composition a lot and the blurred reflection makes for a dreamy look that I really dig. No nits from me, just praise.

Nice soft light Wayne. I especially like the shimmering reflection of the island. I like how the foreground rocks wrap around the scene.

Very peaceful and tranquil. GREAT, soft light. The island is a nice subject drawing me in. Very well done. It does appear just a touch soft to me, but that could just be the web-sized version.

wayne - certainly it seems a challenging situation. i find it pretty pleasing. were i standing in your shoes, that day, armed with my camera gear, i would have had ye old pentax 6x7 (which would have snipped off the left) with 55 or 45mm lens, loaded with delta 100 b&w film all set up on the tripod ... and snap!

I love the peaceful, soothing mood to this. Ny only nit is that the sky is a good bit darker than the reflection. I might try to darken the water somewhat.

The lines of the rocks lead me to the island which doesn't fail to impress. Beautiful feel to this! :toast:

I love the colors. They go along with that twilight feel for the image, if you know what I mean. Compositionally, the foreground rocks swing the door wide open inviting me into the image. Very pleasing image Wayne. Well done.

:toast: Love it! Clarity is great and the colours are good too - I am curious to know if the purple in the sky was really that purple or was it more pink. What ever, it is great! Congrats.
