Giant's Causeway

Giant's Causeway, Northern, Ireland

This is an incredible location, a UNESCO's World Heritage Site, made up of hexagonal basalt columns (a volcanic formation). This was my best effort at an image that showed the vastness of the formations, but also showed the hexagonal shape of the columns. I also liked the juxtaposition of the hexagonal columns with the very rough, amorphous rocks in the water. I would love to get your honest critique on this. Please see larger image for more detail.

What an amazing place. You did well showing it off, Scott. The large view is very nice and really gives you a good look at this. Lots of great shapes and texture.

I really like this take on the causeway. It's a monochromatic place, but conveying the vastness of this landscape is much more difficult and I think you you did it well! I also like the hexagonal pattern against the randomness of the waves. Great image!

Wow, what a cool looking place. I'm digging the separation provided by the inlet of water, looks nice as a black and white.

Fascinating. B&W plays up the abstract quality of this place quite nicely.

The large version really shows why this needs to be printed HUGE. The web compression hurts the smaller one. The wave action lends movement and life to this one.

Scott,

Fascinating indeed. It's amazing what phenomenal formations can be seen around the globe. These are not unlike the Devil's Postpile here in California, although in CA we see the columns, and apparently in this location you see the tops of the columns.

I'm guessing that is ocean surf rather than a stream running through here. I like the water breaking up the geology a little bit. This wild and nicely captured.
