Vixen with Kit

This is my first post in the Fauna Forum. I am usually out chasing birds. But this spring I spent about a week watching this vixen and her six kits on her den.

Pretty tough lighting, the den was in the shade most of the time.

Great capture. Dark feet, light chest, and splash light make this shot for me. Comp is great and I like the OOF veg up front. Well done!

I like the inter action between the kit and the adult. I also like the color and the clarity in the picture. The eye position of the adult is a little off for me. Great picture.

Light looks fine to me. So do the colors. Nice interaction.

Awesome image Matt. I agree that the light was actually in your favor as it allowed you to capture excellent detail without any shadows, which suits this image well. Ideally the kit would be more in focus, but with that BG I think you made the right choice in selecting your aperture and FL. :toast: I hope you will share more images of this series here.

Terrific, both in technical mastery and catching that engaging pose. If you print large for wall viewing, the only thing I would suggest that might be a bit of a positive tweak, would be to selectively lower the brightness on those oof stems/twigs in the background. Excellent posting!

Just beautiful - the only nit is the bit of grass emerging from the head. I'd clone that if I were to sell this or show it. Congrats on the WP

Matt, that light might not be as bright as you usually like, but its quality is wonderful, especially when the subject is nice enough to pose like this! Super shot of the kit interacting with mom! Congrats on the EP.
