Soft Yellow

Soft yellow -- very, very, very soft. :( I am so disappointed, because I thought this was gorgeous otherwise. Is there a place for a soft image like this one? All feedback will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I don't know what you are disappointed about, Barbara  . It looks great to my eyes with a killer background. :toast:

Barbara, I think this is one of the best images you have posted to date. Good diagonal line in the stem. Nice DOF. Interesting light.

Barbara:
You should be proud of this image, probably your best flora so far. Glad to see you are improving by leaps and bounds. :jump:

This is beautiful as posted Barbara. The subject/ground separation is excellent and the bg itself is very appealing. I wouldn't worry about the softness in it unless you want it to be sharper and then you'll need to figure out how to do that. A lot of the satisfaction, at least for me, in photography is the challenge and fun of figuring out how I want something to work and then trying to get the image to reflect that. I think this is why most of us end up spending as much as we do on gear and also so much time learning processing techniques.

Do you like the overlapping parts of the flower in this? If you do great, If not how would they be arranged and placed for you ideally?

Thank you, everyone.

Pat, I am okay with the overlapping parts of the flower because I think it needs to be like that for the image to be as balanced as it is. In this image there's no other place for the second flower, and without it where it is I don't think the single flower would balance the buds below those two flowers. I really like the lines and balance of this as is.

Barbara: I'm traveling and have limited access to the gallery but I did want to comment that IMO this is clearly your best Flora post. Really good comp and BG separation and the BG itself is excellent. 2 thumbs up! >=))>
