A very conventional subject and location from which to capture it, but hopefully still worth posting. Three original exposures processed in Photomatix, then converted to B&W in Nik Silverefex, using the digital equivalent of the good old red filter to bring out drama in the sky.
Comments much appreciated

You've captured this conventional subject in a conventional spot in an unconventional way - I like it. The clouds and dark sky add some nice drama.

Classic beauty. The B&W adds to this sense. My thought would be to dodge the top of the mountain a bit as it seems at to be darkened by a grad.

Very nice shot Stephen. I like the b/w processing. The top of the mountain looks a little dark to me as well. As Tony suggested, I would dodge the top of the mountain and then I think you've got a winner.

I like this a lot!!! I agree about doing some dodging on the mountain top. Other than that, this is great. The tonality is very nice! Maybe it could be a little crisper for the web.

The b/w seems very fitting for this image. I like this quite a bit. I too like the drama that the dark sky adds. Also agree on the mountain top. Nice work, Stephen.

I feel like this needs more space at the top. The peak feels a bit cramped. Nice otherwise.

Stephen,

Fabulous b&w rendition of Rainier and it's reflection. The light is captured beautifully as well, which is sometimes hard to do with b&w. I love the tonal range and just about everything about this. Yeah, I'm wishing for a little more room up top, but certainly doesn't kill the image for me. this is wonderful!

Nice work. I failed miserably in my attempt of getting a shot from this iconic location, but images like yours inspire me to make the trip from California and try again. The B/W treatment is quite successful and the clouds add good drama. I'd agree with Laurent a bit and say there could be a case for a bit more room up top.
