Male Mulga Parrot photographed in central New South Wales. What do you think of the centred comp?

Canon 7D, EF500 f/4 + 1.4, tripod, ISO400, f/8, 1/320, vertical crop from hoizontal image. A couple of sticks removed at low left.

Great diagonals. Centered comp? I hadn't noticed. The composition is fine. I'd prefer the background to be all that creamy golden color.

Doesn't appear centred to me Simon - the bird's head is well across and looking back into the shot. Nice detail.

cheers

I'd prefer it if the composition is moved left such that the perch starts at the lower right corner of the frame.

Superb lighting on this beauty, Simon. Excellent feather detail and a nice pose. I think I would be tempted to give the bird just a slight amount more room on the left to look into. Excellent as posted.

Simon, that is a beautiful parrot, love the pose & eye contact, the way the perch moves through the frame and I especially like the warm gold tones and the blues in the background. I like the centered comp from side to side, if this were mine I might consider just a little bit more room above the head. Really lovely light, realistic colors in the bird's rich plumage and I enjoy those thin, OOF twigs at the top of the frame.

Gorgeous, I think centered comp isn't so much of an issue when shooting in vertical format like this. Sweet shot and bird. :toast: :toast:

Hi Simon,
I'm fine with the crop as his head is right of center. Very colorful species. Details and light look fine. Not an image killer but I wish that bright area of the background were not there.
