This is a lupine from the Paradise area of Mount Rainier. Having seen so many of these on here, and never having seen one in person, I had to take a few snaps of my own. I was happy to see quite a few flowers left there even though it was mid-September.

Thanks for looking!

Beauty of an image David. The only thing I might consider is a crop to 5:4 from top and bottom, cropping below the blue flower on the top. Or possibly just cloning a little green over top blue flower. Excellent subject/ground separation and a fine composition.

I was up there last week and couldn't believe there was still some lupine in bloom....the latest I have ever seen that. I agree with Pat's suggestion about a slight crop (or clone) from the top to remove that splash of purple....I would probably also remove the little bit of red (is that Paintbrush?) just below the purple. Gotta love the blues and purples in this guy/gal.

Nice color, nice soft BG (though I could see it darkened just a tad), and nice foliage to anchor the shot on the bottom. A very minor nit is that the flower leans a bit to the right. Usually for me, when I have a taller stock like this I try to get it upright in the frame. If this were mine I might straighten it up just a tad.

David:
Lovely take of this lupine. Never seen a real one myself. Good separation from the bg.

Nice image. We drove to Alaska this last summer and these were very common. They are a beautiful flower. The only nit I have is I might crop a bit off the top.

Lovely detail, David and nice separation between the Lupine and the background. This is a great documentation shot, and if you are using it as that, I wouldn't do anything to it.

Cheers,

Carol

nice lupine portrait. Agree with cloning out the blue and red spot in bg.

Yeah, David, nice one! Superb detail and good fg/bg separation. Suggest to crop from the top to eliminate the oof bloom there, as it would strengthen the presence of the main subject.

I missed Mt. Rainier this year for flowers, :frown: but there's always the Autumn season, which is gorgeous up there!

David, Works well as presented to me. Background is fine and the red spot is not distracting for me. Excellent environmental portrait of the Lupine.

David: The Texas lupine (bluebonnet) is one of my absolute favorite subjects and this is a terrific find and shot. Really well done.>=))>
