Taken in Virginia. It was a gorgeous day with deep blue, clear, skies.

The contrast between the intense color of the leaves vs the intense sky were too good not to photograph. I know this was taken in the middle of the day....but it really accentuates the fall colors.

Somewhat unexpected, but interesting, compositionally. It seems very soft to me though, or out of focus.

Wow, those are BRILLIANT colors. I does look as if the reds got oversaturated, resulting in some loss of detail. That's a problem common to many cameras (including mine) that takes some careful metering and processing to fix.

The colors are very bright, but the almost look a bit over saturated and a little soft.

Unfortunately, the leaves are a little soft is because this an older photo, that I had to scan. It, of course had some noise, which I, unfortunately, had to deal with. But, the colors are pretty true. I also have some photos from that day with bold, incredibly dark, pink, and some with electric yellow.leaves.
I only lived 1 year in Northern Virginia, so I don't know if these bold colors are typical....But, that year they were! This was taken near Clifton, Va.
The day was beautiful... not a cloud , this intense blue sky. Almost surreal colors..Plus, it was a cool, crisp day . but not cold, because of the bright sunshine. Just wish I had had a digital camera then !!!!!!!!
the lighting must have been just perfect, because I felt just like Dorothy stepping out of her house into the land of OZ !

Technical issues aside, I love the creative use of the leaves to capture the beauty of a super blue sky. Blue skies are beautiful to enjoy real time, but hard to appreciate photographically.
